Mia's First Year | |
Jenn and I have a baby girl! Her name is Mia Magdalena Umali, and she was born Wednesday, March 28, 2001. This is our first baby. And this blog will be a daily record of my thoughts during her first year growing up with us. This page only shows one week's entries. To see older entries, access the archives. I also have plenty of pictures of Mia. Rick's Ramblings BLOG is still being updated. More Rick Umali web sites at:

Friday, October 05, 2001 Mia had to leave day-care early today, because the teachers determined she had a fever. Jenn went and picked up Mia a little before noon. Then she took Mia to the pediatrician, where they diagnosed her as having an ear infection. After I got home from work, I picked up Mia's first prescription medicine: amoxicillin. 3 ml three times a day. Thursday, October 04, 2001 I took some pictures (81-83) of Mia getting up this morning.
While waiting for me to finish doing the dishes, Mia started to drift to sleep in her high chair. It was quite the sight. Jenn and I were laughing. Wednesday, October 03, 2001 Mia got a Skwish today, from a former work colleague of mine. What a fun toy for Mia. She loved holding it, and turning it over. So did Jenn. Tuesday, October 02, 2001 Mia didn't nap this afternoon, and as a result, we put her to bed around 6:15PM. Needless to say, she got up again around 6:45PM, and didn't really get to bed until a little before 8PM. Jenn gave her pills for what we thought were her teething. It was another semi-painful cry-session. Monday, October 01, 2001 This morning, Jenn and I had a chat, and said that Mia missed me after I went to work. She said she was looking around for me. I felt so sad. I was glad to come home.
Mia has a bit of a cold.
Tonight, Mia fell asleep during her last feeding. Unfortunately, she was startled awake when Jenn tried to remove her bib. We've startled her awake while crumpling a plastic bag. One second she's sleeping, the next second, she's wide awake, looking around for the source of the noise. Sunday, September 30, 2001 Well, after reading my last entries, I have to chuckle. Mia had a bad night.
